Last Tuesday I had an appointment with my Infectious Disease Dr. It was of course at 3 in the afternoon so it was an ABSOLUTE JOY to have Brynlee with me! (slight sarcasm) Well I have only seen this women twice and I basically pay her to go over my history...which is super annoying and quiet costly when I know my history VERY WELL! As she sat there asking me the same questions she did at our previous appointment she brought up surgery. Well, she brought up a thoracotomy...and how awful it would be to recover from this surgery with a newborn at home. Thank you for you AWESOME bedside manor. As if I am not totally consumed by that thought everyday....again thank you for the added anxiety. For those of you who do not know what a thoracotomy is...I would have to be put on a ventilator so that they could cut the side of my chest open to expose my heart, lungs, diaphragm, esophagus and so on. Maybe I am totally naive, I thought this surgery would consist of them going back in through my esophagus and draining the abscess. This is much more invasive than I was ever told and not something I need on my mind right now. I started asking her questions regarding this and she kept telling my those are things I will need to as the surgeon....now let me tell you that NO ONE has referred me to the surgeon yet....so ya all this makes sense! Talk about the surgery when you have no idea and don't have me meet with one. FANTASTIC!
So I called my family dr as soon as I left asking if I could meet with the surgeon so that I could get my questions out and have a better idea as to what is to come. My dr said that surgery is the LAST resort and her plan is to do another round of antibiotics after our little man gets here if I am having problems. And then we will look more into the surgeon if that doesn't take care of it. I was much more comfortable at that answer and am just continuing to pray that God grants us a miracle!
On a good note! I am 35 weeks today! No more mandatory NICU stay for a little man! This is a HUGE milestone for all NICU nurses! :) This also means 28 days until the scheduled section! WOW! 4 weeks! We ordered our stroller last week and got it within 2 days! Brynlee absolutely LOVES it and talks about where she will sit and where her brother will sit!
Saturday we worked in the yard all day! I definitely love getting the yard ready to enjoy! Good thing my husband does landscaping on the side! :) The dandelions were driving me crazy so I got the back yard taken care of, but now there front is going to be some work. We got a new edger in the fall so we both got to try that out! Andrew told me I was doing too much, but I was totally like a kid in a candy store, I was so excited that I just kept going and then it hit....contractions galore! So I decided to sit. Well I sat for like 3 hours outside while Andrew continued to work and they didn't go away so I went inside and laid down and started texting Rochelle....so great to have an OB nurse as your sis in law! She said given my history with the infection I should call if it didn't go away soon. I decided to give it another half hour and they finally started to calm down. Every time I would get up they would start again so I stayed on my left side the rest of the night. Yesterday and through the night they were off and on. Apparently me not sleeping due to potty breaks wasn't enough and now we have to throw contractions into the mix. Oh well! It's totally worth it! Can't wait to meet this little guy! He is such a trooper! Hopefully that's the case once he is here too!
Wow. Just know I'm thinking of you and hope you can keep cookin that lil guy 4 more weeks! Good Luck :)
